Wispy Wy’East Falls drops into a bed of moss in Oregon’s waterfall-studded Eagle Creek Canyon. This was my first trip up Eagle Creek after the devastating fire that ravaged the Columbia River Gorge in 2017. It was a surprisingly hot October day in 2022, and I was looking for a quiet spot to eat lunch. I scrambled up the creek bed to discover the most amazing moss garden! I hung out here for over an hour, enjoying this beautiful waterfall spot which I had all to myself. The base of the falls whispered that it needed it’s picture taken, and I happily obliged. I’ve never seen so many colors in the moss, including some with big, rust-orange spores.
