Lake Tautau

Description
Lake Tautau is a small body of fresh water in the middle of an islet called Motu Tautau, one of many small islets which encircles the lagoon around Taha’a, French Polynesia. It’s very unusual for a small fringing islet like this to harbor a lake, so getting to see this was a real treat. Thankfully the breeze was fairly calm that evening so I did not have to wait long for the water to reach that glassy point where the reflection is clear. What a gorgeous sunset, with such soft colors. The water was fairly dark colored and tea-stained from palm fronds slowly decaying in the lake which gave the reflection a darker shade. It felt a little odd being on a small tropical island and not taking sunset pictures looking out over the ocean, but this scene was just sublime and honestly better than the beach!
