Description

Tiny Heart Island, shaped like a valentine, rises from the pale aquamarine waters of the lagoon around larger Taha’a Island in French Polynesia’s volcanic Society Islands group. The water here is so clear that it appears deceptively shallow – it’s actually about a little over two feet deep on average between the shore and the little island with a few deeper spots, enough that it’s hard to wade to the island without getting fairly wet. What a perfect little speck of solitude; the kind of place where you can sit beneath a shady palm and romanticize about being stranded from a shipwreck like in an 19th century adventure novel.
