What better place to get that classic “looking up at the sky through the forest with tree trunks all around” photo than when amongst the tallest trees on Earth? Stout Grove in Jedediah Smith State Park is the easiest and possibly prettiest redwood grove I’ve ever visited, with a gorgeous and flat forest floor coated in sword ferns and massive, healthy redwoods set next to the sparkling turquoise waters of the Smith River. I found the largest clearing on the forest floor that I could to capture this image – in most spots the trees were too close together to achieve the desired effect.
