Description

It was cool and misty the morning I hiked to Steall Waterfall in Scotland’s epic Upper Glen Nevis. I reached the falls as the misty clouds began descending down the slopes surrounding the falls. A pair of backpackers had set up their tent right in the middle of the main view of the falls, so I had to search around for a few minutes to find this shot. Getting to the base of the falls requires either wading across the Water of Nevis or crossing a cable bridge, neither of which I chose to do given the ever-worsening weather conditions. In all honesty I think the view is better from across the river like this as you can really see the entire falls from further away. Just after getting this shot the mist began to come down, so I quickly packed up and headed back down the trail. It started  pouring just as I reached the woods at the lower end of the glen.

The base of the waterfall was used as a filming location in the Harry Potter movies.
