Description
Queen Ann’s Garden meets the corner of the inner gate at Scotland’s famous and historic Stirling Castle. I really love this shot because it speaks to both the defensive purpose of a castle but also the luxury and beauty of the royal residential function of a castle. Plus the sky was particularly lovely at this moment, and the thin clouds around the sun provided a perfect balance between plenty of light but not too much shadow so that the castle’s features weren’t buried in darkness. What an idyllic moment this was, when nearly all of the castle’s visitors had already left and the afternoon had grown warm with only the faintest whisper of a breeze. To be nearly alone while surrounded by such grandiose history was an incredible moment! Of all of the many castle spots we visited, Queen Ann’s Garden at Stirling Castle was, for me, the most impressive and prettiest of them all. I could have spent the entire afternoon there.
