Misty Morning In The Glen

Description
I did the hike to Upper Glen Nevis early, before breakfast. It was raining a bit as I followed the rocky trail along the side of a steep gorge. It was honestly fairly miserable – cold and wet. Just as the rain stopped I reached the glen, and I couldn’t believe my eyes. Behold…Paradise! The trees were replaced by gorgeous meadows filled with wild mountain thyme and blooming heather amongst the lush grasses. The clouds rushed past, brushing the peaks that line the glacially-carved valley. It was utterly and unforgettably magical. I picked my way down to this big rocky beach to the point where I could clearly see the glen and it’s pretty little river winding away into the distance to capture this image. I had about half an hour to explore the glen before the rain started again, harder and windier this time, forcing me to retreat back into the forest and down the canyon to my car and breakfast. Of all the places I visited in Scotland, Glen Nevis was perhaps my favorite in terms of scenery…wild, majestic, and green.
