So many people drive past Mist Falls in the Columbia River Gorge and give it little more than a glance out their car window, but the view across Hartman Pond is definitely worth a stop. I was hoping for a still moment in the notoriously windy gorge to capture the scene with fall colors and a nice reflection. I jumped at the chance in early November when a clear, calm day arrived and captured this gorgeous moment a few minutes after sunset just before the light grew dim. I returned a few days later to find the wind had taken all of the leaves down. This shot received an honorable mention in the Friends of Columbia Gorge 2024 Photo Contest!
