Description

Central Oregon’s incredible Metolius River, one of the few in the state flowing east out of the Cascade Range, ends here at Lake Billy Chinook where it joins the Deschutes River. This view is from Balancing Rocks Trail, which looks out over beautiful desert canyon landscapes down to the winding Metolius. I was happily surprised that the balsamroot flowers were still blooming when I visited a few days before summer solstice.
