Description

The glowing orange sun shines through a break in the clouds just above the horizon at Crescent Beach in Ecola State Park, Oregon – a defiantly bright spot in the otherwise cool and gentle evening. I clambered up the side of a big monolith at the back of the beach to capture the scene with this strong and shapely little shore pine growing from the tip of the rock. I waited there, perched somewhat precariously, for about half an hour before the sun finally hit the gap in the clouds just above the horizon. No other person stepped onto the sand the entire time I was there.
