Description

Looking across the shallow, warm lagoon to beautiful Bora Bora, French Polynesia and it’s two central peaks – Mt Pahia (the block on the left) and Mt Otemanu (the pair of small, jagged points on the right). This view is actually from the little beach next to the airport, which is built on a motu (a small, often flat coral islet which fringes the lagoon). Visitors must board a boat from here to reach their destination on the main island or on one of the many motus which encircle the lagoon. It’s on the motus where visitors get the best view of the island. There’s very few airports in the world where you can just walk 30 steps to the beach while you wait for your plane!
