Description

A bigleaf maple tree stands guard on the shore of jewel-toned Tamolitch Blue Pool. It took awhile to find the steep scramble path down to the shore to capture this image looking across the unbelievably pure water. A forest fire had started nearby the night before, and as I arrived at the pool a thin veil of smoke began drifting in high above, softening the sunlight. In time I hope to see this beautiful small tree grow into a gorgeous and tall specimen. I am eager to return in autumn to capture this same shot but with the tree and shrubs covered in yellow and gold. A few moments later I took a horizontally-aligned shot which includes much more of the pool and surrounding environment, but I do really like this shot because the tree is so prominent with some reflection in the pool visible as well.
