Description

Moorea is an absolutely stunning island in the Society Islands group of French Polynesia, with a nice highway that follows the island’s shoreline. My husband and I took a drive to see the sunset, which looked like it might be good but was not viewable from our rental home which was on the island’s east shore facing nearby Tahiti. We stopped when we rounded the southern point of the island, arriving just in time to scramble down to a little patch of sand and witness this utterly glorious moment, with the sky ablaze and the extremely shallow lagoon acting as an immense mirror. My kids decided not to come with us – did they ever miss out! A few moments later the color profile changed considerably to purples and blues before fading away.
