St Cuthbert Headstone
$0.00
Description
Headstone decorations and carvings got a bit dark in the 17th – 19th centuries. St Cuthbert Kirkyard, a graveyard located below Edinburgh Castle next to Princes St Gardens, has a particularly creepy feel to it, with lots of shadowy corners and crooked grave markers. Black and white just felt like the right way to photograph this place, especially on a cloudy evening. This headstone from 1806 really embodied the feeling of St Cuthbert’s: tipping sideways with fading script and adorned with a mix of angels and skulls.
